All the world's a stage... or at least, all Leatherhead is, as its Drama Festival runs from April 27 – May 9 with the patronage of Sir Michael Caine
The 11th annual Leatherhead Drama Festival is upon us! Founded by a group dedicated to enriching local theatre and patronized by resident Sir Michael Caine - who lends his name to the award presented to the best groups of each festival - this year features almost 30 performances of amateur dramatics from groups young and old!
The first four days (April 27 – 30) are filled with junior dramatics, from socially-charged confrontations to glittering song and dance. The next six days of weekday performances (across May 1 – May 8) come from adult groups, both local and visiting. One crew (the Tremayne Theatre Company) has come from as far as Barcelona! All start at 7pm.
The final day (May 9) is the Gala Awards Night, featuring re-performances of the two winning plays, the award ceremony, and a performance by musicians from the Yehudi Menuhin School. Alas, it seems as though Sir Michael Caine’s busy with his film work this year - but you never know…
