Frozen sing-alongs in Surrey

As Frozen sing-alongs start to take place across Surrey, Alex Robbo looks at how the Disney film gripped the world
As the UK and Ireland’s highest grossing original animated film of all time, Frozen is a cultural phenomenon. Passing the $1 billion dollar mark and overtaking Toy Story 3 to become the worlds highest grossing animated film of all time is no small feat, and almost two years down the line we are still in Frozen’s icy grip: After leaving the big screen behind, Amazon pre-orders made it the best selling children’s film of all time, with 3.2 million units.
The soundtrack beat Beyonce’s surprise December album last year, topping the billboard chart, as well as being streamed 7.5 million times on Spotify. The film;s director, Jennifer Lee, guesses that the combination of the power of social media and music in present times has made the musical the cult hit that it is.
It is no surprise then that the Oscar-winning song ‘Let it Go’ is almost as famous as the film itself. The video, with its likeable characters, a focus on relationships and a rather more relaxed look at common Disney trademarks make it a landmark song in the singalong category.
Since the Royal Albert Hall encountered thousands of children and adults descending on thef first of three newly released sing-along showings of Frozen, an anniversary sing-along DVD has been released, and many venues are now offering sing-along sessions for all ages.
What's more, in many Surrey venues they offer a 'Magic Moments gift pack', where your little ones can dress up as their favourite character.
