It’s easy to see a cute puppy on your phone and think that adorable bundle is exactly what you need in your life, but it often falls to the rescue centres to pick up the pieces when things go wrong. Battersea Dogs & Cats Home took in more than 400 dogs last year that were originally bought online – up from 355 the previous year.
Among them was this gorgeous 12-week-old Jack Russell named Truffle. His owner bought him from an online ad before quickly realising she did not have the time to care for him. Unvaccinated and unchipped, Battersea staff strongly suspected he’d come from an illegal puppy farm. Do your research if you’re buying online, urges Battersea’s Centre Manager Steve Craddock and always consider taking a rescue animal first.
