Ruth McCann and her family enjoy falconry, science shows, and tobogganing at Robin Hill on the Isle of Wight.
One of the island's best-kept secrets, Robin Hill is an 88-acre adventure park set in beautiful woodland, with activities for all the family – and just a 15-minute drive from Cowes ferry port.
Tickets are £22 per person and this includes entry to the park, falconry display, African adventure-themed playground, canopy walkways, giant net trampoline, pirate ship ride, maze, and 4D cinema experience.
During our visit, we explored the gardens and walked the woodland trail. We even bumped into the park's resident peacocks along the way. Bring a picnic or take your pick of the many eateries while being entertained by local musicians.
The highlight for me was the falconry display and meeting the newest falconry member, Chief, a White-Tailed Sea Eagle from Scotland. Less than a year old with an amazing wingspan of 7.5ft, he is the UK’s largest bird of prey. Charlie, head falconer has a wealth of knowledge and is happy to answer any questions – his display was truly breathtaking.
The outdoor amphitheater holds special events throughout the year. We saw Brainiac, the BBC show which was highly entertaining so make sure you check out what’s on when you arrive as booking is essential.
Not included in the entry is the quarter-mile toboggan run. It’s only £1.50 for adults and 50p for children. You can whizz down as fast as you like and is definitely worth the extra money.
We finally got the kids off the toboggan run and were soon back on the ferry home. Tired but happy, my youngest said she would give it 10 out of 10 and asked if we can go back next year!
