Old Suttonians RFC is a sociable rugby club based in Surrey just outside of Sutton, founded in 1970 by Old Boys of the now Sutton Grammar School. We currently play in the Surrey Combination 2 League and on a good weekend will field two teams at our lovely home ground of Northey Avenue, Cheam. The club trains weekly at local venues and we will warmly welcome new players of all ages and ability into our senior squad.
Old Suttonians RFC was formed 44 years ago by Old Boys of Sutton Grammar School. They wished to maintain the strong friendships and playing opportunities that had been fostered throughout their rugby playing at School and this ethos is still maintained in the club today. All teams have a mixture of Old Boys, new faces and current sixth formers, which ensures a range of abilities, knowledge and fitness can be catered for. The club is certainly keen to nurture new players and young players in order to ensure that the OS RFC continues to flourish well beyond its 40th Season, which was celebrated in 2010.
With excellent playing and training facilities at Northey Avenue, the club is in fine health under its newly appointed Chairman Anthony Sheppard. The first team currently play in the Surrey Combination 2 League which takes sides around Surrey each weekend and more 2nd XV matches are scheduled for this season. Recruitment is key in any club and our Chairman or Team Manager Paul Lumsden would be pleased to hear from players of all abilities if you would like to become involved. Their contact details can be found on the Club Links page in the Committee section.
