eclectic games is an indepeneant specialist retailer. Our philosophy is handily summed up in our name - eclectic is defined as "choosing the best from a wide variety of sources" and games as "recreational activities with rules to determine a winner, played for fun". We want to sell our customers the best games available, and make sure that they have fun playing them. We carry a diverse range of products, and if a particular item is not on the shelf, we can quickly order it for you from one of our many suppliers.
We try to play every game we stock so that our staff can offer an informed opinion and knowledgeable advice, and we will try our best to match customers up with the games that will best suit them individually. No matter how good a three hour wargame is, no matter how many awards it has won, we won't try and sell it to you if what you're after is a quick, after-dinner partygame.
Equally, if a game is fantastic for three or four players, and also plays for two but much less well, we'll tell you this, rather than allow you and your partner to discover this on your own and be disappointed. We'd much rather not sell you a game than sell you a game you won't like. With new games released every week, sooner or later, there will be something that matches your tastes and requirements.
We have an ever-growing library of demo games available so that you can see more than just the outside of the box, and our regular Monday and Friday evening games sessions provide the perfect way to 'try before you buy'. The more informed you are, the better choices you can make and hopefully, the happier you are with your purchases.
We also offer more than just a good shopping experience, we are dedicated to supporting the games we sell. We run a variety of regular tournaments and participation events at the shop and we have plenty of playing space available for "drop-in games" of many kinds.
We are active in many of the Organised Play programs run by the various games manufacturers to support their player communities, as well as organising our own independent events. Every month, we will run a minimum of one event (and sometimes as many as six!) for the following games: Magic: The Gathering, Yu Gi Oh, Dungeons and Dragons, Legend of the Five Rings. We also run regular boardgame demonstration days, tournaments and casual play sessions.
We are open Monday to Sunday from 10 am until 6 pm. Evening events typically start from 6:30 pm and run until 11 pm (ish), depending on numbers. Weekend events will usually open the doors at 10am, and start at 11am.
Price promise: We will always charge Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price or less for our games. We hate being overcharged for things, and believe that you do, too. If we are able to get a good deal from our suppliers, we will endeavour to pass the savings on to you, our customers.
