Cranleigh heralds the arrival of affordable housing...
A new collection of affordable homes will be launching soon in the village of Cranleigh. Thanks to housing association Aster Group, a selection of 14, one-, two-, and three-bedroom homes will soon be available for shared ownership.
Unlike other new homes, the properties, situated in Little Meadow, are only available to those who are local or have a local connection to Waverley. This is the third development launched by Aster Group in the county further to unveiling its two collections in West End.
Amy Nettleton, Aster’s assistant development director, sales and marketing says: “It’s been really interesting to see that our average buyer across our Surrey homes is aged 36 and has a household income of £40,000.
“Little Meadow is perfect for young professionals or those looking to start a family but just can’t get that hefty deposit together or afford huge monthly mortgages. Our shared ownership homes unlock that opportunity to buy and get your foot on the ladder, which in Surrey is no mean feat,” adds Amy.
Through Aster Group’s shared ownership scheme, buyers are only required to find a 5% deposit – which may be as little as £5,100. They can then purchase a share (from 25% to 75%) of the home and pay Aster rent on the remaining owed value. Based on a 40% share with shared ownership, it could bring the price of these homes down to an affordable £102,000.
