Want to keep cool, look fab and stay sun savvy? Where there's a will, there's a beauty way, says Fiona Adams
Confused by the labels on sunscreen? A recent Royal Pharmaceutical Society report showed that most people do not understand what to look for.
Buy products with both an SPF and star rating or those which protect against both UVAs and UVBs. The Sun Protection Factor indicates the level of protection against UVB rays, while the star rating details protection against UVAs.
Here are our picks for the body:
- Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport, SPF 50 (£30.20). For all those active days in the sun.
- Ultrasun Family, SPF 30 (£19). An all-family lotion for very sensitive skin. Widely available.
And for the face:
- Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily Moisturizer, SPF 50 (£35). This is very wearable and easy on the skin.
- Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield, Broad Spectrum, SPF 30 (£55). Also acts as a primer.
- Nuriss Moisturising Sunscreen, SPF 30 (£34). Another very light lotion, which is easily absorbed.
Alternatively, you could invest in a trendy wristband to keep your kids (and yourself) safe in the sun!
The Smartsun wristband can be bought on Amazon, at £4.99 for five bands.
Simply apply sunscreen to your skin and your band, and it will tell you when more protection is needed – and when to stay out of the sun altogether.
They are light, comfortable and can be used in the pool or the sea.
