The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex comes to Sunningdale Golf Club in Berkshire on July 23-26, featuring such legends as Miguel Angel Jiménez and Bernhard Langer
Next week will see the Senior British Open tee off at Sunningdale Golf Club. The golf tournament, which first started in 1987 and was confirmed as a Major championship in 2002, is for professional golfers aged 50 and over - and though the players may be silver, they're all going for gold.
There are some real stars coming for the championship on July 23-26, with a total of 77 Major titles between them.
51 year-old Miguel Angel Jiménez, himself the oldest winner in the history of the European Tour after his 2014 win at the Open de España, confirmed his entry just last week.
"One thing I've come to appreciate is that the standard at Senior level is incredibly high", he said. "I've been playing most weeks on The European Tour, but that doesn’t give me a divine right to come onto the Senior Tour and expect an easy ride. There are many great players out here – legends with fantastic careers.”
Other big names include Tom Watson, the American who was the number one in the world for four years, German and reigning Senior Open champion Bernhard Langer, and Sir Nick Faldo himself - the most successful Ryder Cup player ever.
Tickets are available at £80 for a season and £30 for a day. Under-16s can enter free of charge when accompanied by an adult. Parking is free, and practice day tickets for Wednesday are only £12.
