Edvinas Vavilovas, founder of Tsubasa Bicycles, highlights his favourite cycling route for May
DISTANCE: Around 55 kms
DIFFICULTY: Easy
One of my favourite London routes is a circular ride from Hackney Wick where I live. I follow the river to Westminster Bridge where I cross the Thames and head south to cycle around Wandsworth, which is less busy and has segments of longer distances without traffic lights.
Then I go back over the river at Putney Bridge and return east via Hyde Park, Piccadilly, Shoreditch and Victoria Park. I like the urban contrasts – the glitter of the city centre versus residential areas.
London is pretty flat, which allows you to set your own standards – to pedal hard when you want to or ride in a relaxed manner.
Edvinas has teamed up with Reginald Vorontsoc, the Kiev based founder and designer of Takhion, an Olympic Gold winning cycle frame, to build a new frame – the Takhion+Tsubasa Mass – which is being auctioned to raise money for war orphans in Ukraine.
