Kingsmead House is a new private care home open in Camberley. Its manager tells us about a trend toward 'all-inclusive' respite care that offers real peace of mind
All too often, nursing homes that seemed perfectly affordable turn out to be spiked with hidden costs - meals, entertainment, activity groups, and even facilities can all bump up the price after the fact, causing emotional distress and leaving plans in disarray.
It's for this very reason that Kingsmead House Care Home has resolved to operate on an 'all-inclusive' basis, offering 24-hour resident nursing with no additional charges - meals, entertainment and activities are all covered by the weekly fees.
After 34 years experience in nursing, Karen Temple, home manager at Kingsmead, understands the suspicion and upset that "nickel and diming" can cause.
"We want all our residents to be able to access the facilities, activities and luxuries available at Kingsmead House without fear of hidden costs. Everyone has equal access here, and their families have peace of mind that everything is covered - when searching for a new home, you need to be able to plan for the future with all the money facts in place."
The facilities Kingsmead include a hair salon, library, piano bar and cafe - or, for those who prefer the outdoors, a putting green and chauffeur-driven Mercedes for shopping trips. There's an on-site chef, laundry services, concierge daily newspapers and more - and they all come at no extra cost, ensuring that residents don't need to feel cautious.
