Looking for a night of music, food and racing? The flat season at Sandown Park Racecourse is almost here, and on May 21 all Grandstand tickets will be free when booked in advance
Flat racing is a test of speed, stamina and jockey-skill, without any hurdles or harnesses complicating the purity of the race, and the season kicks off at Sandown Park Racecourse (celebrating its 140th birthday this year) on Thursday, May 21.
Kicking off at 4pm and finishing at 8.40pm, the evening will feature live music from the vintage duo Verity & Violet, delicious food and drinks in the various restaurants at Sandown, and (of course) high-octane horseracing throughout.
Perhaps most enticingly for those looking for an easy evening of entertainment, it's free. Premier tickets are just £10, while Grandstand tickets are free if you book ahead. It's a great opportunity to experience what Rupert Trevelyan, Regional Director of London Racecourses, calls "the sport of kings".
