If you love flowers, enjoy meeting people and want to learn more about floral art, why not go along to Godalming Flower Club?
You can sit back, relax and enjoy award-winning demonstrators as they create beautiful designs – one of which you could be lucky enough to take home AND never touch a flower!
Or you can be hands-on at a workshop, trying out innovative designs and techniques that can be used in our monthly competitions. Whatever your style, you can pick up tips and ideas and have the fun of trying them out at home.
Welcoming all levels of ability, the club run beginners’ classes for those new to floral art and nurture talent in those aspiring to compete. They have prize-winners from local shows through to Chelsea Flower Show gold medallists and cover the range from miniature designs to installations for cathedrals, from traditional to contemporary. Plus members who just like to watch and socialise. There is something for everyone who loves flowers.
The Club routinely meets on the third Tuesday in the month at the Baptist Church Hall in Queen Street, Godalming GU7 1BA, at 7:00 pm for a 7:30 pm start.
A special treat in October is a return visit by Nick Grounds – an agricultural auctioneer by profession, amusing raconteur and acclaimed floral artist in his spare time. Nick presents ‘Junk & Disorderly’ – guaranteed to bring a smile to your face as he creates beautiful arrangements with a twist. This demonstration takes place at the Borough Hall in Bridge Street, Godalming GU7 1HR on Thursday 23 October. Doors open at 6:30 pm for a complimentary welcome drink and sales stalls to browse. The demonstration begins at 7:30 pm, and there will be a raffle of arrangements at the end of the evening. Tickets are £12, available on 01483 428992.
In November, there is a sparkling demonstration by Nel de Jong Smith, entitled ‘It’s nearly Christmas’. Visitors are most welcome. Tickets are £5 on the door.
