Andy Overall is the mushroom man who founded Fungi To Be With, spreading fungal fascination and mycological magic throughout Surrey and London
Wild mushrooms are perhaps not the most glamorous of nature’s produce but, with hundreds of different varieties growing in Surrey alone, they’re worth your attention.
Step outside and keep your eyes to the ground for the chance to see the brown-capped Penny Bun, pale-pink gilled Horse Mushroom, or the red and white cap of the Fly Agaric.
Andy Overall, founder of Fungi To Be With, runs regular educational forays, wild walk workshops and luxury lunches throughout Surrey and London to help the public identify edible and toxic mushrooms, and to highlight the vulnerability of some of these fungi, now at risk from habitat destruction and over-picking.
In support of its work, Andy shares his records of rare species with the Mycology department at Kew Gardens, among others.
His next Lunch and Learn is hosted at his house on October 31 – book now for a place.
