October sees the festival premiere of Meet Pursuit Delange, the blisteringly funny musical comedy filmed entirely in Kew (warning - the trailer contains some bad language)
Novelist and photographer Howard Webster is the writer and director of Meet Pursuit Delange, the independent British musical comedy making its debut at the Raindance Film Festival this month.
No amateur production, the film features original music from Grammy Award-winner Tim Garland, and stars such British actors as Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Peter Bowles (The Irish RM), Stephanie Leonidas (MirrorMask), Colin Salmon (James Bond) and... Right Said Fred?
The story is at least partly based on Howard's own experiences, named as it is after a semi-biographical newspaper column he once penned. It was filmed almost entirely in his home district of Kew – indeed, he reportedly rewrote the script to take place there, to help juggle his responsibilities as both dad and director.
Pursuit Delange (Ben Starr), a 30-something struggling writer, scrapes out a living in a ramshackle old groundsman's hut tacked onto the back of Kew Cricket Club. Despite his circumstances, he finds himself taking on two old school friends (Jason Flemyng and Robert Portal) facing similarly bleak prospects for their future.
Together with a giant bullmastiff by the name of Audrey, they're made to confront the question – what defines your life when your dreams haven't come true?
Meet Pursuit Delange has received excellent preview reception, and will be open for public viewing at the Raindance Film Festival on October 1 and 2. Look forward to a wider release!
