Award-winning conductor and musical advocate Julian Lloyd Webber is bringing an evening of music and anecdotes to Leatherhead Theatre on July 17, alongside his wife Jiaxin
Julian Lloyd Webber comes from what some might call a musical family. With renowned composer William Lloyd Webber CBE as his father, a piano teacher for a mother, and another famed composer for a godfather in Herbert Howell CBE, it's perhaps no surprise that he and his older brother Andrew have made waves in the world of concerts and compositions.
His musical career spans 44 years, more than 60 recordings and critical acclaim that has seen his performances declared "without any rival" by Gramophone magazine.
Even after retiring with a neck injury in 2014, his work continued as a musical educator and advocate, representing British music on shows such as Question Time and Newsnight.
Now Julian is bringing the story of his remarkable life to the audience of Leatherhead Theatre, accompanied by music from across his career, as well as his wife and cellist Jiaxian Lloyd Webber and pianist Pam Chowhan.
We spoke with Julian about his music and family before last year's Barnes Music Festival, which would prove to be one of his final live performances. You can read that interview here.
