Gatwick Dolls House Club
Join the Gatwick Dolls House Club in Horley and experience a whole world of tiny magic on Oct 18th!
Thought it was just little girls who were into dolls houses?
Well, you thought wrong! For 21 years, a group called the Gatwick Dolls House Club have been beavering away making all things miniature, and sharing their love of a unique craft.
The group, who meet monthly in Horley, are now inviting others to join in, as part of their Have a Go Day.
“The club began as a way of us sharing skills and fun ideas with each other and like minded miniaturists,” says Club Chairman Barbara Hoyle.
“The Have a Go Day offers the chance to dabble with different materials and try new ways of making a piece which can often lead on to other projects.
“We have a great diversity of make and take projects, so you can try, learn and perhaps be enthused yourself to apply the skills to another project at home.”
For small fee you will be given materials to make bits and bobs 1/12th the size of real life things, plus expert guidance and assistance from the club members themselves.
There will also be three stalls from outside dolls house retailers, club member’s stalls and a general craft stall selling odds and ends that would make the perfect miniature something, because, as Barbara says, “one man’s rubbish is a miniaturist’s dream”.
A sure highlight will be the exhibition of the group’s recent projects, which, having been displayed at local Dolls House Fairs, show their talents and skills to great effect.
Oooh, and homemade cakes and a tombola, in aid of the Shooting Star Chase Children’s hospice.
