After long walks and summer activities, our Craft and Country editor Emma Pritchard plans to cap off her weekend with summer berries and locally-made icecream
PYO: Pick your own!
Make a trip to Francis Corner, near Shere. Here, follow a 3.5-mile circular through woodland and along part of the North Downs Way, where, if you look carefully, you should find bushes adorned with plump wild raspberries, ready for the picking - don't eat anything you cannot positively identify, and remember to follow the forager's code.
Quick fix?
Head to Crockford Bridge Farm Shop in Addlestone where you can pick your own strawberries on site, or buy those that have been freshly gathered by the team that day.
Serve with
Award-winning St Joan’s Farm in Leigh have been making ice cream from the milk of their herd of British Friesian and Guernsey cows for 12 years. Choose from flavours such as lemon, coconut and good old fashioned vanilla.
Finishing touches
Top the dish with edible blooms, including borage and dog roses - the same advice applies here as to picking berries. You could even crystallise them by painting the petals with an egg white and sugar wash.
