The school holidays may be over but Surrey Police will be hosting a Family Fun Day on Sunday 21 September at the Force's headquarters in Guildford.
There will be plenty of interesting displays, demonstrations and activities for adults and children alike to enjoy and keep the post-holiday blues at bay – including a ‘Junior Detective Trail' where children can have a go at being a detective.
The Anna of Avondale dog trials will be the focal point of the day, giving Surrey Police dog handlers the opportunity to demonstrate the skills used in all aspects of their police work.
Officers and staff from all areas of the Force will be there including Firearms, Roads Policing, Forensics, Intelligence and the Major Crime Team.
There will be current and historic police vehicles and the police helicopter should also be making an appearance - unless it is called out to an incident!
"This promises to be a fantastic day for families where you can have your fingerprints taken, try on a police uniform and visit a police station straight from the 1940's" said Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Matt Twist.
"As well as having the opportunity to meet officers and staff, and see vehicles and equipment from a variety of police teams, there will be representatives from the other emergency services. You will also be able to meet some of our dog handlers and their dogs - and hopefully even some of our puppies!
"I am really pleased to invite you to come and see the different ways we work to keep people safe in Surrey, tackle crime and catch criminals. There will be food outlets on site and a huge amount to see and do. Anyone, of any age is welcome to join us and we look forward to seeing you!"
Free event, Sunday, 21 September, 10am-4pm.
Parking is at Artington Park and Ride on Old Portsmouth Road, Guildford (A3100). The site is near to the entrance of Surrey Police headquarters at The Ridges which is being used for the event. A shuttle bus will be available.
