Looking to help your teens build some life experience over the holidays? EXORTA is a team activity week for ages 13, 14 and 15, intended to bolster confidence, inspire personal statements, and provide tons of fun
“Skills get people in the door to be interviewed. But what gets them hired and what keeps them hired is character.” - Donnie Lane, CEO of Enersolv
The teenage years can be among the most valuable, a time for picking up and developing traits like confidence, self-control and determination. They're also a time for having fun, making friends, and exploring new avenues. They're also one of the most infamously difficult periods for parents to influence.
Surrey parent Heather Hudson-Oldnall was inspired to develop EXORTA to deal with just this issue. Seeing that her teens had outgrown kids' clubs (or felt like they had, anyway), she decided to set up something interesting, fun, and useful - a programme that would not only provide a fun week, but also bolster their life experience.
Across the week, teens take taster sessions in scuba diving and golf, are taught first aid skills, experience a university campus, learn how to work as part of a team, and more - as wide a variety of activities and experiences as possible, with the chance to make new friends and meet potential employers.
This new generation faces an uphill battle when it comes to getting noticed by employers, and school doesn't prepare them for life nearly as well as we'd like to think. Why not help them broaden their horizons this holiday?
EXORTA 2015 takes place in Farnham and Guildford between the 27th and 31st of July
