William Smith Woking
A man has been sentenced after carrying out a 'vicious attack' on man who was left requiring surgery for his injuries.
William Smith, 24, from Gloster Road, Old Woking was sentenced to 16 months in prison after pleading guilty at Guildford Crown Court yesterday (24 September 2014) to an assault inflicting grievous bodily harm.
The incident happened in the early hours of 8 February 2014 at the Istanbul Kebab House on the Broadway in Woking.
An altercation occurred inside the shop which resulted in William Smith punching the victim, a 33-year-old man in the face causing fractures to his jaw and cheekbone.
The victim had to undergo surgery to have three metal plates inserted in his mouth to aid his recovery.
“This was a vicious unprovoked attack on another man which left him requiring surgery for a broken jaw and cheek" said DC Dan Chant.
"This sort of behaviour is completely unacceptable and has no place in Surrey. I hope Smith’s sentence serves as a warning to others that we will always pursue offenders and put them before the courts to face justice”.
