Vandals smear dog poo over playground in South Godstone
A police investigation has been launched in Tandridge, following the discovery that vandals have smeared dog poo over a playground in South Godstone three times in one week.
The delinquents emptied dog poo bins in Hunter’s Chase, and spread the contents over the playground equipment and fencing.
The incidents occurred on Wednesday, July 2, Thursday, July 3, and Sunday, July 6.
As well as preventing children from using the playground in their summer holidays, the vandalism has also put children and their families at risk of cataching a disease called Toxocariasis.
The infection is caused by roundworm parasites, often found it dog feaces, and can spread to humans through contact. In extreme cases, the parasite is known to cause epilepsy and blindness.
“That this happened once is bad but three times is terrible,” said the mother of 4-year-old Jack, who regularly uses the play area with his friends. “I am beyond disgust, and now worried about taking Jack back to his favourite playground."
