Thieves who broke into a car parked in Sunbury-on-Thames last month stole an 'irreplaceable' collection of war medals.
Officers are continuing to investigate after thieves broke into two vehicles parked on the driveway of a house in Staines Road East sometime just before midnight on 13 October and 6-30am on 14 October.
The World War medals, which were from collections belonging to both the victim's husband and her father-in-law, include the Africa Star, the 1936-1945 Star, the Atlantic Star, the George Medal, a Medal of Loyalty and a DUX Medal which had DMT inscribed on the back.
The thieves also stole a Start 25 EU Tom Tom satellite navigation system and an amount of change after breaking into a BMW 630I and a blue Land Rover Range Rover.
PC Chris Evans, who is investigating the offence, said: "These medals are of huge sentimental value and are irreplaceable to the family. They are very distinctive and we are appealing to anyone who may have been offered any war medals for sale to come forward as a matter of urgency.
"We are also appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area at the time of the offence, or has any other information, to get in touch straightaway to help us progress our enquiry.”
