A teenage boy has admitted murdering Elizabeth Rose Thomas, 17, who was stabbed to death in Oxted.
17-year-old Steven Miles, who was charged in connection with the murder, has pleaded guilty to the offence.
Elizabeth Rose Thomas' body was discovered by Police at a residential property on Amy Road, Oxted, on 24 January.
A post-mortem examination established the cause of death as a stab wound.
Miles, who was 16-years-old at the time of the stabbing, was arrested at the scene a short time later on suspicion of murder.
He pleaded guilty to the offence on Tuesday, 9 September at Guildford Crown Court.
“This was the tragic loss of a young girl’s life and the devastating impact the incident which unfolded in Oxted earlier this year continues to be felt – not just by the family and friends of Elizabeth but the wider Tandridge community" said Deputy Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Gordon Denslow from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team.
"Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.”
Elizabeth, grew up in the West Wickham area of London and attended Oxted County School where she was a 6th form student studying for her A-level qualifications.
Her family, in tribute to Elizabeth, said: "Elizabeth was a kind, caring, loving and gentle girl and her death has left our lives broken beyond repair, we have lost our Sunday child.
"Throughout her GCSEs Elizabeth studied hard and did very well, she was now working towards her A Levels and we were all extremely proud of what she had achieved.
"Following Elizabeth's death we have been truly overwhelmed by the messages and support we have received from everyone who knew her.
"We would like to say a special thank you to Elizabeth's friends and the friends of her younger sister for all they have done over recent days. They have shown a great sense of maturity and respect in such tragic circumstances.”
Miles is due to be sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, 2 October.
