Simon Cowell hosts star-studded Easter Tea at The Dorchester for Shooting Star Chase children’s hospices in Guildford and Hampton
Simon Cowell and a host of stars including Abbey Clancy and The Apprentice runner up Luisa Zissman joined families supported by children’s hospice Shooting Star Chase for an exclusive Easter Tea at The Dorchester in London on Tuesday (1 April).
The event hopes to raise £40,000 to support families with babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, who receive care either at home or at Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford. Much to the delight of all present, the day included a special performance from X-Factor winner Sam Bailey.
Simon Cowell was presented with a canvas painted by the children for his new baby and given an Easter egg named Eric after his son.
“It has been a pleasure to host our third Easter Tea in aid of Shooting Star Chase,” said Cowell, who was presented with a canvas painted by the children as a gift for his new baby. He was also given an Easter egg named Eric after his son.
“It is always great to spend time with the families and seeing them enjoying themselves” continued Simon. “Children's hospices are the most amazing places and the staff are incredibly devoted to making them such happy and friendly places for all the children and families who need to use them.”
“It has been the most fantastic day for the most amazing cause” agreed Strictly Come Dancing’s 2013 winner Abbey Clancy. “The kids who go there say they absolutely love it and the families clearly benefit from the little bit of rest they get from it. Hearing some of the stories is heartbreaking but everyone was so nice.”
Emma, the mother of Hollie (13), whose familiy are supported by Shooting Star chase, said her daughter especially liked meeting Abbey Clancy. “It's been a fantastic day” said Emma. “We've been supported by Shooting Star Chase for two years now but Hollie's been really unwell during that time so this is a lovely opportunity for us to all come out together for fun times and enjoy an event like this.”
Also present were Made In Chelsea star Hugo Taylor and TOWIE girl Gemma Collins, who said she was ‘overwhelmed’ to meet the families supported by such an amazing charity. “If everyone can do a little something for this charity it will make a massive difference” she urged.
