A 44-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman have pleaded not guilty to a number of charges of stealing poppy collection boxes at South West Surrey Magistrates Court in Guildford today (Tuesday, 11 November)
James Pretty and Karin Latham of Arethusa Way, Bisley are both charged with the theft of Royal British Legion charity boxes from a Co-op store in Chobham on 5 November and a Sainsbury's Local store in Bisley on 3 November.
Pretty is further charged with the theft of a poppy collection box from a Morrison's supermarket in Frimley Green Frimley Green on 5 November.
Pretty has been remanded in custody and is next due to appear via video link at North Surrey Magistrates Court in Staines on 18 November.
Latham was given conditional bail and is due to appear for trial at Guildford Magistrates Court on 5 January 2015.
