Are you a budding Dame Judi Dench or a would-be Sir Ben Kingsley? If you are then Hodern Ciani, the team behind Leatherhead Theatre’s successful repertory company would love to hear from you.
Following its hit run earlier this year, the company is returning to the Church Street venue to stage The Railway Children and is holding open auditions to find two local people to join the cast.
Auditions will take place on Saturday, October 13 at the theatre and are open to actors aged 16-21 to play the roles of Phyllis and Jim. Previous theatre experience or training is not required and potential auditionees should keep an eye on the website (leatherheadrep.com) for news of how to register and download scripts for the auditions.
Producer Katherine Mount said: “It has been such a pleasure to work in this incredible theatre. It was built to house rep and is steeped in history which we are learning from at every turn. We would now like to reach out to the community and help to develop some young local talent”.
The Leatherhead Rep Season kicks off on Tuesday, November 6 with a Gala Performance of Michael Aitken’s stage adaptation of his hit TV sitcom Waiting For God which runs until Saturday, November 10. This is followed by The Railway Children, written by Edith Nesbitt and adapted as a stage musical by Dave Simpson, which opens on Tuesday, November 13. The season concludes with Alan Ayckbourn’s brilliant Christmas comedy Season’s Greetings.
