Residents of Kingsmead House Care Home and members of the British Army will come together to mark Remembrance Day on November 19
Kingsmead House, the "all inclusive" nursing and respite care home that opened in Camberley earlier this year, will host representatives from the nearby Keogh Barracks – home of both the British Army's Royal Logistics Corps and the Army Medical Services Museum – and ex-serviceman from the local Princess Royal Barracks, accompanied by vintage military vehicles from the on-site Royal Logistic Museum, on November 19.
Kingsmead's manager Karen Temple said the care home was looking forward to "paying tribute to fallen heroes of past wars" and opening its doors to the British Army. "Many of our residents took part in the last World War", she said. "They're looking forward to paying tribute to the servicemen and women who gave up their lives for our freedom."
The day will include a service from a military chaplain, with hymns from Tredegar Brass Band, and attended by the Chelsea Pensioners of Royal Hospital Chelsea – famous for their scarlet coats and black tricorn hats – followed by a plaque unveiled by Surrey's Mayor and a full luncheon buffet for residents and their guests with music from Melody Gal.
