International Flip Flop Day, Gandys Brothers
Take a 'footsie' for International Flip Flop Day and raise money for a great cause on June 20th!
Tomorrow is International Flip Flop Day. Hurrah! The global initiative encourages the public to take a 'footsie' in aid of the Gandys Foundation, a charity that supports children’s homes all around the World and makes a real difference to the life of orphans.
Gandys is a revolutionary brand created by two young, passionate brothers, originally from Croydon, who have spent many years travelling the world. Their adventure began when they were still in school. When Rob and Paul were 13 and 11, their parents took them out of school and left their comfortable Surrey home behind, in favour of travelling India and the rest of the world. Rob and Paul’s parents wanted to raise their children with a unique, international education.
In 2004, the family were travelling in Sri Lanka when the Boxing Day tsunami struck. Tragically, Rob and Paul lost their parents in the disaster. Having been through such a devastating experience, Rob and Paul want to help other children who have also suffered losing their parents and create something positive from their own personal tragedy. They want to ensure brighter futures for children in developing countries where help from friends and family isn’t always available.
In 2012 Rob and Paul created their unique brand Gandys. Their social enterprise donates a percentage of profits to provide aid to children in developing countries – specifically, through children’s homes and disaster relief. Gandys is a sustainable business that helps children around the world, providing them with nutrition, education and a brighter future.
Not only do Rob and Paul give back through the Gandys brand but they have also set up the Gandys Foundation – their registered charity. The Gandys Foundation allows the brothers to run fundraising events to raise money for children around the world.
As 2014 marks the 10th year anniversary of the tsunami, it is a very special year for Gandys and their ‘Orphans for Orphans’ mission, which funds projects that provide children basic essentials such as nutrition, medication and a safe place to live.
The goal is to open the first Gandys Children's Home to mark the 10th anniversary. By coming together and raising money on International Flip Flop Day, you can help turn this dream into a reality.
