Do you think all taxis should be wheelchair accessible? Do you want cabs to have a special livery?
Whether or not you travel by taxi, Guildford BC would like to hear your views on these and other questions in a short online survey about the way taxis and private hire vehicles are regulated.
“We have updated and simplified our taxi policy to make it clearer for passengers, operators and drivers" said Lead Councillor for Licensing and Governance, Cllr Paul Spooner.
"We produced the revised policy in consultation with our local taxi and private hire trade and would like to hear from as many people as possible".
The key areas they would like feedback on are:
• Livery (colour and logo) for taxis
• The number of taxis that are licensed
• Vehicle specification (size and type of vehicle)
• Wheelchair accessible vehicles for taxis
• The conditions we are proposing to attach to the licences for private hire drivers, taxi drivers and private hire operators.
Adds Cllr Spooner: “We are also pleased to announce a new central taxi rank is now available in the town centre for people to use. Between midnight and 4am, you will be able to get a taxi home from stand one in the bus station, operating in the same way as the existing taxi ranks in the town centre”.
The new rank is being trialled for two months and taxi marshalls will be available at peak times.

The online consultation lasts until 6 February 2015. They will also be asking a Citizens' Panel for feedback on this subject early in 2015.
Once the consultation has closed they will consider all the responses and amend the policy as appropriate. The Licensing Committee will review the updated policy on 18 March 2015, and a summary of the responses will be available on the Guildford BC.
