Surrey residents and businesses affected by last winter’s floods now have more time to apply for a government grant of up to £5,000 to protect their properties against future damage
The deadline for applying for the Repair and Renew Grant has been extended until March 20 2015.
Successful applicants then have until the end of May to get the work done and submit their full grant claims.
The grant fund was set up by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) to help cover the cost of upgrading properties damaged by flooding during the winter of 2013 and 2014.
The deadline was extended following a request to DEFRA from Surrey County Council and other local authorities.
