Surrey Police is appealing for witnesses to an altercation following a collision between a motorist and a cyclist on the Hog's Back in the early hours on New Year's Day.
The cyclist was riding along the A331 towards the roundabout junction with the A31 near Farnham between 3-30 and 4-30am when he was knocked from his bicycle after it was in collision with a dark-coloured Ford vehicle.
Following a verbal altercation, the driver punched the cyclist, knocking him to the ground. The motorist then got back in his car and drove off in an unknown direction.
Detective Sergeant Jim Strugnell, who is investigating the incident, said: "There are unfortunately very few details about the car or the motorist involved in this incident but this is a busy junction and even in the early hours, we are hopeful that people may have been driving past and seen what happened. If you witnessed this incident, or have any other information which could help, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
If you can help, please contact Surrey Police on 101, quoting crime reference 45150000139 or, if you prefer not to leave your name, call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
