Brownlee brothers train at ‘impressive’ Surrey Sports Park
Surrey Sports Park members and guests once again shared their gym workout and swim with Olympic heroes on Wednesday as Team GB triathlon stars Alistair and Jonny Brownlee trained at the Park.
The Brownlee brothers rewrote Olympic history last year when they took gold and bronze in the triathlon at London 2012, becoming the first British brothers to share the podium in an individual event for more than 100 years.
Both former Triathlon World Champions, the Brownlee brothers trained in the centre’s 50m swimming pool and state-of-the-art health and fitness centre.
Speaking about Surrey Sports Park, Olympic gold medalist Alistair Brownlee said: “It's certainly an impressive facility and it’s great to have the opportunity to train here while we are in the area.”
“The pool is great and one of the best we have trained in,” said younger brother and Olympic bronze medalist Jonny Brownlee.
The Brownlees were at the University of Surrey owned Sports Park after meeting the RFU England U20s rugby squad who have also been training at the venue this week.
Surrey Sports Park has fast become known as an elite triathlon training venue after hosting a number of triathletes, including USA, last summer ahead of London 2012.
In October the Park launched it’s first weekend Triathlon Performance Camp focused on bespoke training plans for budding triathletes.
The next camp takes place from Friday 31st January to Sunday 2nd February with prices starting from £195 per person. For more information visit surreysportspark.co.uk/performanceservices
