Pizza Express decorate to honour local celebs
Branches of Pizza Express have taken to celebrating local celebrity connections. Catherine Whyte checks out the Walton branch
You may or may not be aware that branches of Pizza Express have taken to styling themselves around local celebrity connections.
The Banstead restaurant, for example, is a shrine to HG Wells, who included the village in his 1895 novel The Time Machine.
In the same vein, the Walton branch has chosen Julie Andrews, born in the town, as the inspiration for its extensive refurbishment.
If she ever returns, the star of Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music can now enjoy a pizza while glancing at the film posters adorning the walls, along with the lyrics of her most famous ditties artfully etched into the glass.
No schnitzel with noodles though.
