With summer officially over and school starting again, it might seem like all the fun and jam-packed events of the holidays are once again finished for another year. However, you can still keep the remainder of 2019 exciting with these upcoming foodie events, markets and festivals taking place in Surrey & SW London...
1. Farnham Farmers’ Market

Taking place on the fourth Sunday of each month, the Farnham Farmers’ Market is one of the top spots to source local food and handmade goods. The market offers stalls of fresh fruit and vegetables, locally sourced honey, fresh meat and fish, cheese, plants, handcrafted items and so much more. With the community at the heart of everything they do, there's even a local charity tent that serves hot drinks and cake every month.
2. Pub in the Park

📍 Chiswick House & Gardens 📅 6-8 September (£20/£165)
This touring food and music festival comes to Chiswick in September, bringing Michelin star chefs, pop-up pubs and restaurants, chef demonstrations and tastings as well as plenty of bars to keep your day busy and full with food. Alongside foodie stalls and events, you’ll find yourself bopping along to bands and artists such as Razorlight and Clean Bandit who are headlining.
3. The Surrey Chilli Festival

📍 Imber Court. Ember Lane, East Molesey, KT8 OBT 📅 7-8 September (£7 for adults, £5 for 12-18-year-olds)
This fun and out of the ordinary festival aims to celebrate and explore the world of chilli foods, with 100 different food, drink and market stalls selling chilli themed foods. Featuring acts on its main stage, rides and inflatables to keep the children entertained, chilli themed competitions, tastings and games, as well as numerous bars – this weekend-long chilli festival in Surrey hopes to be fun and inclusive for the whole family.
4. Greyfriars Wine Tasting and Dinner

📍 The White Horse, High Street, Dorking, Surrey, RH7 1BE 📅 12 September (£35pp)
Greyfriars Wine is a local award-winning company that has been producing wines for over 20 years. On the 12th of September, they will be hosting a wine tasting evening accompanied by a three-course meal and a talk on their selection of wines and how to pair them.
5. Farnham Gin Festival

📍 Farnham Maltings, Farnham, Surrey, GU9 7QR 📅 13-14 September (£12 - over 18s only)
With over 150 different types of gin for you to sample and buy, as well as live music, optional gin masterclasses and free talks from experts – the Farnham Gin Festival is ready to welcome you to the world of gin. You’ll either come away from this festival with a newfound love for the beverage, or you’ll be ready to show off your new gin cocktail skills.
6. Surrey Hills Food Festival

📍 Denbies Wine Estate, London Rd, Dorking, RH5 6AA 📅 14-15 September
With over 50 food and drink producers ready to dazzle your taste buds through local food, the Surrey Hills Food Festival is returning for its second year at Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking. Expect to find local gins, cheeses, jams, wood-fired pizzas and so much more. This market booms with variation; featuring cookery demos, drinks tasting, beer and wine pairings and lots of talks to pick from and enjoy. Furthermore, the 2019 festival is making itself more eco-friendly, with less waste (and what is left will be recyclable).
7. Haslemere Food Festival

📍 Lion Green, Lion Lane, Haslemere, Surrey, GU27 1LL 📅 21 September
Enjoy a celebration of local food and drink from Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire with stalls selling locally sourced and produced food and drink. Live entertainment, tastings and demonstrations will also be on the menu. As well as an interactive children's zone, where your little ones can enjoy food themed arts and crafts.
8. Elmbridge Food Festival

📍 Painshill, Portsmouth Road, Cobham, KT11 1JE 📅 21-22 September
This family-friendly weekend festival in Cobham centres around the local drink and food producers, whom you can buy fresh and locally sourced food from. In between browsing and purchasing from the stalls, you can watch live cookery demonstrations or musical performances, while your kids enjoy themselves with the children’s entertainment.
9. British Food Fortnight
📍 Various places 📅 21 September - 6 October
Aimed to bring the community together and celebrate British food, the British food fortnight is an event which people of all ages can get involved with. To take part you and your community simply need to hold a celebratory event that focuses on British food during or around this fortnight. For example, the 2018 winners were Hampshire, who brought British meals to over 450 schools across the county and coordinated food-based activities with individual schools. Other winners have held lunches on their village greens where everyone is welcome or held a two-day food celebration. Whether you want to encourage the spirit of your community, show off your cooking or baking skills, or you simply love British food - this is one competition which everyone will benefit from getting stuck into.
10. Dorking Vegan Fair

This fair features a range of completely vegan stalls and products that are all suitable for vegans. With free entry and refreshments available, this fair is perfect if you’re looking to find and try new vegan food.
11. Harvest Festival: Apple Weekend
📍 Morden Hall Park, Morden Hall Road, London, SM4 5JD 📅 28-29 September 11 am - 4 pm
Organised by the National Trust, this apple festival is in honour of the harvest period. You can get lost in the hay bale maze, or educate yourself on how to grow apple trees with tips in the garden centre. There will also be the opportunity to eat uncommon varieties of apples and drink fresh juice, as well as trying a variety of other harvest foods from the stalls.
12. Farnham Food Festival
📍 Castle Street, Farnham 📅 29 September
On September 29th, Castle Street will be filled with over 100 producers, ready to let you sample, browse and buy their products. There will also be live music from local artists and bands, live cooking demonstrations, and talks from local chefs. Equipped with its very own cooking demonstration stage, this immersive festival is more than ready to engage you into its love and knowledge of local food.
