Here are the ingredients to look out for in January and top tips on how to enjoy them...
Blood oranges
Try these for breakfast with Greek yoghurt & pistachios or enjoy them as part of a salad with watercress and green olives.
Kale
This is something you either love or hate and if you aren’t convinced about kale why not try blitzing it into a pumpkin & coconut soup (see below) or add a few leaves to an apple, cucumber, ginger & kiwi smoothie for added vitamins.
Jerusalem artichokes
These knobbly tubers look a bit like ginger but have a nutty sweet flavour which works brilliantly in a soup or roasted in olive oil with some thyme and rosemary.
Pomegranate
These jewel-like seeds add a lovely texture and crunch to a salad and also work well as a topping for a slow-cooked lamb tagine or wedges of roasted spiced butternut squash.
