Garsons of Esher Spring Food Market will be bursting with new flavours and ideas for Easter entertaining and family dining.
The two-day event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, April 6th and 7th with more than 20 suppliers showcasing their products and offering tastings of seasonal treats. Many of the food and drink items are new to Garsons Farm Shop, from zingy salad dressings to spicy fresh sauces, Fairtrade chocolate bars, organic wines, fruit juices and much more.
Food blogger Bill Williamson of What Dad Cooked will be demonstrating his latest recipe created especially for Garsons - an Asparagus and Jersey Royal Frittata – and sharing tips on how to cook freshly-harvested British asparagus, which is renowned by chefs as the best in the world.
Visitors will be able to meet the makers who supply the farm shop all year round and enjoy the first tastings of new artisan products and Garsons’ latest own label additions, including a rhubarb and ginger preserve and a clotted cream fudge.
“We are very excited about the Spring Food Market as visitors will be able to try some of the delicious new food and drink products now on our farm shop shelves, as well as revisit old favourites,” said farm shop manager Amy Dunne. “It’s a chance to celebrate the start of the British growing season and provide lots of inspiration and fresh ideas for home cooking.”
Among the new suppliers will be Tony’s Chocolonely which has recently launched onto the UK market with its range of ethical chocolate bars; Auntie’s Sauces with its zingy recipes of chilli and mango, tamarind, and ginger& coriander; and Funky Elephant who will be bringing a Caribbean-style twist to marinades.
The Spring Food Market will also see the launch of The Busy Botanist - Garsons is the first farm shop in the country to stock this range of holistic herbal hot drinks with relaxing names such as Sweet Dreams, Stressed Out and Pick Me Up.
There will be plenty of Easter treats too, including cakes from the Christmas Bakery, a family-run business based in Surrey, and Moose maple butter which, says Dunne, is “all you need for your hot cross buns”.
And for the chocoholics there will be the chance to win a two-metre high, 7.5kg Easter egg. Garsons will be raffling the chocolate giant to raise money for its charity of the year, Harrison’s Fund.
The Spring Food Market is free to enter and will be open from 9.30am to 5.30pm on Saturday and 11am to 4.30pm on Sunday.
