Thrilled to be performing a charity concert at one of their favourite venues, the 90-strong Elmbridge Ladies Choir has been invited once again to provide the musical entertainment for the Molesey Amateur Regatta on Saturday 18th July.
‘Rollin’ by the River’ promises a delightful mix of popular music from the fun-filled 60s to more recent pop hits, from the Beatles to Bon Jovi, Etta James to Kelly Clarkson and Tina Turner to Il Divo!
‘We have a great variety of songs, some of which we are looking forward to performing for the first time,’ says Dale Thomas, Music Director of the choir. ‘It’s fantastic to be back at the Regatta again – as well as being a beautiful location right by the riverside, it holds good memories for many of our members as it’s the venue of our first ever concert back in 2009!’
Choir members requested that the proceeds from this concert are given to Woking Hospice. ‘Many of our members or their families have had personal experience of the excellent services provided by the Hospice and wanted to be able to give a little back,’ explains Dale. ‘When we’ve performed here before our audience has filled the marquee and spilled out onto the riverside – we hope to do that again in support of this fantastic cause!’
‘Rollin’ by the River’ will start at 8.00pm after the day’s rowing has come to an end, and will be held undercover in a marquee on the river bank at Hurst Park, Molesey (via Ferry Road). There will be a bar selling real ale and Pimms, and tables and chairs provided for picnics.
Entry to watch the regatta is free during the day, however entry to the evening’s concert is ticketed at £8 (adults), £4 (children under 12) or £30 for a group ticket (4 adults) available from www.riverbanksongs.co.uk
