All singers are invited to ‘Come & Sing’ Rossini’s ‘Petite Messe Solennelle’ in the beautiful acoustics of Epsom’s largest historic building, St Martin’ Church.
Famed for his output of operas – 39 all told - Gioachino Rossini also penned a handful of works for the church. The most well-known and his last major composition was his Petite Messe Solennelle. Whilst Rossini uses traditional texts of the requiem mass, the music doesn’t stray far from the sound-world of his operas.
Following Rossini’s original scoring, piano duo David Nettle and Richard Markham will be providing the accompaniment. Richard Dacey will be directing the day.
Registration and rehearsal from 1 o’clock. Performance at 6 o’clock
A £10 charge includes music hire and refreshments.
