The Knack
by Ann Jellicoe
Set in Swinging Sixties London, 'The Knack' is an ironic comedy about the male "art of seduction". It premiered at Cambridge Arts Theatre and moved to the Royal Court in 1962. Many early reviews of The Knack dismissed it as a feminist or ‘women’s’ play. Despite this, the show was a success and, in 1965, was made into an award-winning film directed by A Hard Day’s Night’s Richard Lester. This is a quirky show full of physical comedy, quick wit, a meaningful message, and a whole lot of nonsense too.
This play has roles for one female and three males.
