The Annual Architecture Lecture is promoted jointly by The Guildford Society and The University of Surrey. We are grateful for the generous sponsorship received from Linden Homes and the support of RIBA - Royal Institute of British Architects.
Healthy People, Place & Planet - The Triple Bottom Line is the title of a talk to be given by John Thompson, Chairman of John Thompson and Partners. In the 1980s he pioneered the introduction in the UK of community planning as a tool for bringing about collaborative, interdisciplinary community-based planning and for promoting more sustainable development processes. Since then he has helped develop a range of participatory processes that can deliver integrated programmes for physical, social and economic change whilst respecting and enhancing the environment.
The 2015 Annual Architecture Lecture by John Thompson moves deep into the processes of world-friendly design of human towns and cities. John Thompson is Honorary President of the Academy of Urbanism and has built up an architectural and planning practice focused on Collaborative Planning. This process involves early work with all interested parties to aid the development of designs for improvements to our towns and cities.
With so much new development in the pipeline in the local area this is a challenge in which The Guildford Society actively participates. If you would like to know more about the Society come and talk to members before or after the lecture or visit guildfordsociety.org.uk.
Admission is free to the lecture (expected to finish at 8.30pm).
The lecture will start promptly at 7pm but a pay bar will be open for drinks from 6pm.
