Opening the annual Summer Festival with a dramatic start, The Menuhin School Junior Orchestra will perform Haydn's Fire Symphony followed by a performance of Chausson's mighty Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet, with one of our final year pupils and Director of Music Ashley Wass taking on the titular roles. Continuing the season's theme of The Elements, the second half will comprise Max Richter's Four Seasons Recomposed, showcasing four soloists and The Menuhin School Senior Orchestra in this extraordinarily moving homage to Vivaldi's much-loved originals. Founded in 1963 by celebrated violinist Yehudi Menuhin and based in Cobham, The Yehudi Menuhin School provides a nurturing environment, combining an intense musical provision with academic studies, for an international community of highly gifted children, all of whom are selected based on their talent and potential, regardless of their economic background. Specialist tuition is provided by an extraordinary faculty of teachers, many of whom are internationally recognised performers and pedagogues.
