Weybridge-based Brooklands Radio has announced that it will be holding a special 24-hour marathon broadcast show to raise money for Woking and Sam Beare Hospices’ ‘New Build Appeal’, a cause close to the heart of the station.
The show will start at midday on Saturday 28th May 2016, running throughout the night and finishing at midday on Sunday 29th May 2016. Brooklands Radio presenter James ‘JP’ Pearce will be fronting the broadcast with help from Alan Bosson as the show’s producer and a variety of presenters and guests.
This is not the first time that Brooklands Radio has worked alongside the local hospices; Brooklands Radio have been active supporters of the Woking and Sam Beare Hospice since the station launched in 2005. The organisation’s lottery draws are announced on the station every Friday afternoon and in 2014, £125 was raised for the charity by taking on the popular ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’. In 2011, the late Lance England partook in the station’s first 24-hour marathon for the cause.
The ‘New Build Appeal’ is an initiative, hoping to raise £3.4 million to help Woking and Sam Beare Hospices renovate their previous locations and provide 21st-century care in a new third location in Goldsworth Park. For nearly 20 years, WSB Hospices have been caring for people in the heart of Surrey, during their time of need. We need your help and support through donations to this vital campaign; please give as much as you can at http://www.justgiving.com/BR24.
Presenter James ‘JP’ Pearce: “A 24-hour broadcast is by far the biggest challenge I have taken on but I am extremely proud to be doing so for such a wonderful cause. Woking & Sam Beare Hospices do an amazing job caring for their patients and the ‘New Build Appeal’ will help them to continue doing this. I hope that we can help them along their journey and raise awareness for such a superb local cause. I also hope that the people of Surrey get involved and donate during the show to keep us awake and going!”
