January is always a good time of year for personal reflection and the setting of goals. Setting the bar higher than most is Dorking schoolteacher Ted Jackson, who is competing in The World Marathon Challenge this month to raise funds for the charity Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis.
Ted, whose wife Sophie has been diagnosed with the illness, will complete seven marathons in seven days across seven continents (if you split the Americas into two) – the thought of which leaves us mere mortals reaching back into the Christmas cake tin.
