As the autumn days settle in, why not treat yourself to a cultural escape at the New Ashgate Gallery in Farnham, where the much-anticipated Surrey Artist of the Year Exhibition is now on display?
Since 2009, this annual event—presented in collaboration with Surrey Artists Open Studios—has celebrated the extraordinary talent of local artists. The exhibition features an eclectic mix of artwork from this year's 17 shortlisted artists, who were chosen by public vote over the summer. Now, it's your chance to have your say! Visit the gallery by October 25 to cast your vote and help crown the Surrey Artist of the Year 2024.
Finalists include Simran Ahira, Tracey Jane Cooper, Sarah Cox, and many more, offering an inspiring variety of styles and media. The winning artist will not only gain the prestigious title but also secure a solo exhibition at the gallery next year.
Can't make it in person? No problem! You can still explore the exhibition from the comfort of your home via the virtual tour. Plus, there are free family workshops taking place during half-term on October 29-30, where little ones can enjoy paper crafts and cardmaking with 2023 winner Lucy Dorothy and artist Kate Kennington Steer.
