As Surrey Hills gets ready to take our screens by storm, we find out more about the Surrey Hills star who describes himself as the heart of Surrey
Benny was raised in Esher and as only child he admits he was well looked after. However at the age of seven, his father disappeared, leaving his mum with no additional income. Now, as a successful stockbroker, Benny says his greatest achievement is that “ I can look back on what I’ve done so far and say I’m happy.”
Q. Why do you think people would describe you as “the heart of Surrey”
A. The award for most cringe line goes to .......ME! As you'll all soon see I am a funny, easy - going guy who likes to be involved in everything social, as a consequence people have called me 'Mr Weybridge' or 'Heart of Surrey'. I think I'll be getting stick for life off the back of that comment! (He giggles)
Q. Why would viewers want to follow your life on the television?
A. I move in a variety of circles. Some in which I enjoy lavish nights out with champagne and others which are much more modest and involve chilled nights in with close friends and family. I believe it is this contrast and variety, which will grip the public.
Q. What sort of people would you expect to be on the show alongside you?
A. I expect there will be some people who are similar to me – who work hard, play hard and fundamentally have some of the best stories to tell. On the other hand I expect there to be people who have never done a hard day's work in their life: clueless to the real world and only care about what their parents will buy them next.
Q. How do you think you would cope with the intrusion on your life that the publicity would generate?
A. If the paparazzi over step the mark, my dog Muffin will stick em!
Q. What was your most embarrassing moment?
A. Getting turned away from my own birthday party because I had forgotten to add myself to the guest list.
Q. What do you dislike about your appearance?
A. My face is slightly lopsided and sometimes when I’m drunk I get a lazy eye.
Q. What do you like most about your appearance?
A. My body. I work very hard on it.
Q. Who would play you in a film of your life?
A. Michael McIntyre: he’s an eccentric out-going character and he’s mainly there to get people laughing, He’s the spit of me but I’d say he’s uglier.
Q. What’s your biggest fear?
A. Spiders
Q. If you could edit your past, what would you change?
A. My education. I got expelled from school and I spent the whole of year 11 on exclusion. I wasn’t allowed to attend the school and I had to be escorted to my GCSEs.
Q. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
A. Cheese. Strong cheese
Q. What is your most unappealing habit?
A. I bite my nails when I’m drunk.
Q. What was the best kiss of your life?
A. (Giggles a lot) I’m going to keep that one to myself for now.
