Celebrity couple Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are selling their Weybridge home, Emily Davis takes a look
Celebrity snoopers will be intrigued to know that ITV This Morning presenters, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, are selling their Weybridge home.
Horsley is a highly stylised six-bedroom property in Granville Road, and prospective buyers will probably guess that the funky interior design could only be the brainchild of those in a creative industry.
“We bought the property from new when it was a show home,” explains Eamonn. “As an Octagon home it was handsomely fitted out, but we wanted to put our stamp on it. We refitted the bathrooms and commissioned Stephen Clasper to completely redesign the kitchen to Ruth’s specification.”
The result is an interior perfect for entertaining, with a spacious entrance hall, four ground-floor receptions and a cinema room. Air-conditioning and an in-house sound system add to the luxury.
“This has been a happy home for us. It is a manageable size and we have hosted many enjoyable parties,” reminisces Eamonn, adding, “We’ve also felt very secure, being so close to the St George's Hill gate lodge and the constant security patrols. The in-out electric gates on the driveway make Horsley very private.”
But, despite the fabulous interior, what Eamonn will miss most is the great outdoors, with its sun terrace, rose arbour and evergreens.
“I am most pleased with the garden - everything from my shed to the new hedging that fronts Granville Road.”
Horsley really is a dream home, and the glamour of both the property and its lush green setting are hard to resist. So why the move? Eamonn blames his family.
“Well, that’s Ruth and our son Jack's fault! Without consulting me, she gave in to that perennial plea that comes from adolescent boys: ‘Can I have a drum kit?’. Unfortunately, he is very good and keeps taking exams. The result has been marital disharmony and continual irritation! So it wasn't so much a case of finding a new house; it was more a case of finding a property where son and his drums could be placed in a separate annex!”
The couple have been in Weybridge for eight years and won’t be leaving the area.
“We wouldn’t want to be anywhere else,” says Eamonn. “Weybridge is a delightful location, with great charm and access to all the important road, rail and airport links. It has proved to be ideal for us.”
So, as the presenters move on, Horsley could be all yours for £3,495,000 - drum kit not included.
