Surrey-based mobile manicurist and beautician Gigi Lisauskiene shares her top tips for staying preened to perfection in the summer sun
When Surrey is in the midst of a heat wave, the last thing you feel like doing is venturing into town to the salon. What should be a treat suddenly feels like a chore you’d rather bow out of. Recently I discovered the perfect solution to this predicament, and her name is Gigi Lisauskiene!
Gigi and her company Blossom and Jasmine bring the salon right to your home, offering a plethora of prettifying services from makeup and manicures to facials and massage.

At-home manicures and pedicures are the ultimate luxury in beauty treatments, and Gigi herself is the trump card to combat chipped polish and dry skin. I got to experience this luxury for myself while Gigi shared her expert advice on how to stay chic in the summer heat.
“If you’re going to the beach, sand is such a good exfoliator for the skin, but sea water can be harsh on nail polish. I always say that after the manicure you should add a top coat every second day.”

Those are my hands by the way
For those tempted to quickly dry your nails in the sun, Gigi advises against this as the sun is too hot for the polish. Instead, pull up a chair in the shade.
With the rays of the sun beating down on you, it’s essential to protect your skin. Gigi recommends using Chanel’s Vitalumiere foundation with SPF15; “It’s the best one. It’s light but provides total coverage.” To keep your foundation in place on a hot day, Gigi swears by primer as “It really holds the makeup. When I do bridal makeup, the primer keeps the makeup in place all day through to night.”

With events such as Royal Ascot and the Henley Royal Regatta coming up, Gigi can help you get ready at your convenience. Blossom and Jasmine has been instrumental in the rise of pamper parties, particularly hen-dos where women can begin their celebrations with a beauty session amongst their nearest and dearest. "Women like that they can include their mothers and future mother-in-laws in the celebrations, and it always proves to be a memorable bonding experience," says Gigi.

I ask what skincare regime Gigi uses, as her skin is remarkably clear and radiant. “When it’s sunny I find exfoliating more often and using a light moisturiser helps to keep the skin clear. Also taking vitamins gives you a healthy inside-out glow.”
With my nails a pretty blue hue, I'm delighted to discover that I can now shuffle around my kitchen barefoot while my pedicure dries; I need not worry about the near-certain carnage of cramming perfectly painted toes into shoes.
