Allow yourself enough time to recover after birth, at least six weeks with a natural birth and eight for a cesarean.
Start with gentle exercises such as deep breathing, walking and engaging your core.
Check, or be checked, for diastasis recti (ab separation). You will need to gently rehab your muscles.
Avoid planks, crunches/sit ups and twisting exercises for the first few months.
Squats and glute bridges are your friends! They will gently work your core, along with your lower body muscles.
