Look like a new woman says Mrs Stylist with her tips on how to transcend the seasons. No beads of sweat required!
Mrs Stylist’s top rules for a winning look:
- No matchy matchy: simply put, matching shoes and handbag dates your look. Choose a coloured (or metallic) bag or shoes instead. You don’t need to just think black bag for winter and tan for summer.
- Accessorize: the difference between a good outfit and a great one are the accessories you choose. Don’t over complicate them though – find a focal point like a statement necklace, large cuff bracelet or chandelier earrings. Just remember not to wear them all at the same time!
- Storage: I always show my clients how to store their clothes according to outfit, rather than type. Hang jewellery alongside complementary outfits. Trust me, it will save so much time in the morning and help to avoid those outfit combos that don’t quite hit the mark.
- Add interest: varying the print, texture and detail of your tops iskey to any successful capsule wardrobe. Embrace variety to avoid a flat-looking style.
- Structure: blazers aren’t just for the office – you can also dress them down for the weekend with logo tees and jeans.
- Fake tan: give yourself a fake – rather than a baked – tan. It can stop you looking washed-out in pale and pastel hues. It also makes skin look toned – great for boosting confidence when baring flesh.
- Nifty tip: if your bracelet won’t go over your hand, put a pop sock over your hand and slide it over – it works wonders.
